Val d'Oca

Val d'Oca serves as the commercial brand for the Cantina Produttori di Valdobbiadene, a cooperative winery founded in 1952. It was established by 129 local farmers who aimed to rebuild the local agricultural economy following the devastation of the Second World War. Today, the organization has grown to include approximately 600 member growers who operate as a collective enterprise. The cooperative structure allows individual smallholders to share resources and modern technology while maintaining the economic sustainability of family-run vineyards.

The cooperative manages 1,000 hectares of vineyards located in the hills between Valdobbiadene and Conegliano. These sites include many steeply sloping plots known as Rive, where mechanization is impossible and all grapes must be harvested by hand. Glera is the primary variety cultivated, though Pinot Noir is grown for sparkling rosé production. Winemaking focuses on the Martinotti or Charmat method, utilizing pressurized stainless steel tanks to preserve the fresh floral and fruity profiles typical of the region. The winery has adopted several sustainability initiatives, including the VIVA certification for environmental management.

The producer is best known for its Valdobbiadene Prosecco Superiore DOCG wines, particularly those sourced from the prestigious Cartizze hill and various Rive subzones. In 1997, the winery introduced a distinctive satin-finish black bottle that became a visual trademark for its flagship sparkling wines. Their portfolio ranges from broad Prosecco DOC bottlings to highly specific single-vineyard expressions and vintage-dated Millesimato versions. The winery is recognized as a significant producer in the Treviso area and maintains a prominent presence in international markets.
