Vinous · 93–95 — The 2025 Grand Mayne is impressive. Dark, layered and vibrant, Grand Mayne has so much to offer. Dark-toned fruit, new leather, licorice, mocha and a kiss of French oak all meld together in the glass. This big, broad-shouldered Saint-Émilion displays very fine balance and tons of character. Vinous · 93–95 — The 2025 Soutard takes all the qualities of this site and dials them up a few notches. Red/purplish fruit, lavender, rose petal and a kick of spice open first, framed by suave, silky tannins that add to an impression of finesse. All the elements are so well balanced.

The Wine Palate · 95–97 — Deep garnet-purple colored, the 2025 Laroque slowly unfurls with fragrant notes of juicy blueberries, black raspberries, and fresh black plums, followed by nuances of violets, cedar chest, and chalk dust. The medium-bodied palate is bright and shimmery with energetic black and blue fruit and very fine-grained tannins, delivering a crisp line and a very long, mineral-laced finish. The blend is 99% Merlot and 1% Cabernet Franc. The alcohol is 13.8%.

Vinous · 95–97 — The 2025 Pape Clément is magnificent. The aromatics alone are captivating. Strong floral and savory notes soar from the glass. Lavender, rose petal, sage, mint and mocha lead into a core of wonderfully vibrant red/purplish fruit. Medium in body and deep, Pape Clément is positively stellar in 2025. The Cabernets and Petit Verdot add tons of aromatic presence. Élevage is 85% in barrique and 15% in foudre, with a relatively modest 33% new oak.

Vinous · 96–98 — Rich, vivid and textured, the 2025 Pape Clément Blanc is outrageously beautiful. Lemon confit, marzipan, white flowers, tangerine peel, mint and white pepper soar from the glass. All the elements are so well balanced. This builds beautifully through to the intense, palate-staining finish. In 2025, the Blanc is quite simply magnificent—clearly one of the wines of the vintage.

The Drinks Business · 95–97 — This is very pure and aerial, with a lovely Pessac smokiness, but only very subtly present - like the plume from an extinguished candle rather than that from a barbecue! Sombre, almost haunting in its dark berry fruitedness, with just a little black cherry and that redolent graphite of de Fieuzal. Saline in its minerality and reassuring cool at the plungepool core, this is very beautiful and beguiling. A great success. - Colin Hay

The Drinks Business · 94–96 — Up there in the upper echelons of the appellation where it belongs once again, this is a very fine showing from Stephen Carrier and his team at de Fieuzal. A wine that is essential and energising in its freshness, with a lovely balance and harmony, a gentle hint of spice and a long and razor-sharp finish with the ascent on blood orange and orange blossom. Beautifully shaped, opulent but never overly rich. I somehow knew he'd pull it off - he has! - Colin Hay

James Suckling · 95–96 — This shows volume and concentration on the palate, moving from a broad profile to a narrower, more angular expression toward the finish while maintaining its core of concentration. Persistent and textural. - James Suckling

The Drinks Business · 95 — This is ethereal - staggeringly pure and lifted, aerial and luminous. It showcases the Cabernet fruit of the estate so brilliantly. This is one of the most vibrant, vivid and dynamic wines of the entire Médoc in this vintage and that speaks volumes to the work that has been done in the vineyard here is recent years. A study in purity and a study in Margaux terroir too, I'm in raptures. I have never tasted better from here. - Colin Hay

James Suckling · 98–99 — Gorgeous aromas of blackberries, black olives, coffee beans and dark chocolate follow through to a medium to full body with creamy and open-grained tannins. Juicy and savory with a flavorful finish. Balanced and vivid. Excellent potential. A blend of 74% merlot and 26% cabernet franc. - James Suckling

James Suckling · 95–96 — Very polished, with fine tannins that caress your palate while the fruit is ripe but al dente, with red currants, plums and peach undertones. Medium body. Refined and intense finish. 67% cabernet sauvignon, 21%, 10% cabernet franc, and 2% petit verdot. - James Suckling

The Drinks Business · 95–97 — This is so gracious, so very Canon-La-Gaffèliere, with a Cabernet Franc signature that is omnipresent and that renders this so beautifully beguiling. But let's not restrict this to the aromatics. For what we have, just as crucially, is a sumtpuous mouthfeel, quite an ample frame, above all on the attack, and a lovely pillowy, cashmere texture in the mouth. The majority of Cabernet fruit in the blend really makes this sing in 2025. This feels reassuring indulgent, generous, opulent but never blowsy, elegant and refined. We have both amplitude and crystallinity. There's a lovely luminous quality to this and it will, I am sure, age very gracefully. My favourite recent vintage of this. So measured and refined on the finish with brilliant clarity.

Vinous · 95–97 — The 2025 Giscours is another magnificent wine for a château that has made giant steps in the last handful of years. Plush and succulent in the glass, with silky, exceptionally polished tannins and stunning mid-palate richness, the Giscours is pure and total sensuality. Dark red-toned fruit, pomegranate, spice, new leather, incense and dried flowers all race across the palate. The purity of the flavors is just remarkable. Tasted two times. - Antonio Galloni

Vinous · 96–98 — The 2025 L'Évangile has been given new impetus by winemaker Juliette Couderc. It is initially backward, but it really comes forth with a few swirls of the glass: black cherries, mint and juniper berries, just a hint of truffle, quite vibrant and vivacious. Wonderful delineation. The palate is medium-bodied with svelte tannins, a fine bead of acidity, superb minéralité, as if there were a bit of limestone soil, but there is none. Very saline on the aftertaste with impressive length. This is a marvellous L'Évangile given the growing season, and it seems imbued with so much personality. - Neal Martin

Jeb Dunnuck · 94–96 — Cassis, violets, and graphite all define the 2025 Château Saint-Pierre, with some spicy nuance that makes it just a stunning, gorgeously textured Saint-Julien. It's incredibly pure and medium to full-bodied on the palate, with ultra-fine tannins and no hard edges. The Wine Advocate · 92–94 — The 2025 Lafleur-Gazin shows promise, wafting from the glass with notes of minty cherries, cassis and licorice, followed by a medium- to full-bodied, polished and charming palate that's fleshy, seamless and already nicely integrated.

Decanter · 94 — Vivid, vibrant purple colour in the glass. Gorgeously pure aromas, roses and sweet red cherries. Fragrant and appealing. Blackcurrant and cedar aromas with dried flowers too. Crisp and clean, juicy and so succulent. Lovely friendly chewy ripe strawberry and raspberry fruit with fine but present tannins and a long crushed stone and cool blue fruit finish – ultra refreshing. Concentrated and intensely fruited yet no heaviness. Has a real edge of refinement with a juicy core. Plenty to like here, and super accessible. - Georgina Hindle

The Drinks Business · 92–94 — So different in its terroir aspect from Clos Marsalette tasted immediately before but with the same quality of tannin management and the gentleness of the extraction both very evident. Black raspberry, redcurrant, blackcurrant and a little cherry. This is ample on the attack and then grabbed and massaged by the limestone tannins that draw this back to the spine. But, after the pinch of the tannins, this opens to form a fantail finish. So pure with that lovely tactile touch of chalk on the finish reminding you - though you could hardly forget - from whence this hails. This posesses the kind of energy that only organic viticulture can produce. - Colin Hay

Vinous · 94–96 — The 2025 Alter Ego is bold, juicy and super expressive right out of the gate. A wine of total pleasure and seduction, this will drink beautifully with minimal cellaring. Soft, plush contours wrap around a core of red plum, mocha, cedar, espresso and cinnamon. All the elements are so well balanced. Floral top notes and a kick of blood orange perk up the brilliant finish. This is such a classy, polished wine—an especially fine Alter Ego. The blend is 54% Merlot, 40% Cabernet Sauvignon and 6% Petit Verdot. - Antonio Galloni

The Wine Palate · 95–97 — Deep garnet-purple colored, the 2025 Malescot St. Exupéry prances out with gregarious notes of juicy blueberries and black raspberries, leading to hints of violets, mossy tree bark, and camphor. The medium-bodied palate is intense with shimmery blue and red berry flavors, supported by ripe, fine-grained tannins and great tension, finishing long and perfumed. Stunning! - Lisa Perrotti-Brown
