Tenuta Augustali

Vincenzo Bambina, a winemaker with over thirty years of industry experience, and his wife Finella Ammoscato established Tenuta Augustali in 2011. The estate is situated in the Partinico and Alcamo regions, an area historically associated with Emperor Frederick II of Swabia. The producer name and logo are derived from the Augustale, a gold coin minted by the emperor in 1231. While the family has cultivated land in the Bosco Falconeria area since the 1960s, the modern winery focuses on integrating viticulture with a didactic farm approach that promotes agricultural education and local heritage.

The estate manages 19 hectares of vineyards and olive groves divided between the Bosco Falconeria hills and the Monreale countryside. In Bosco Falconeria, the proximity to the Gulf of Castellammare influences the vines, which grow in sandy and moderately calcareous soils that contribute to the freshness of the wines. The Monreale holdings are located at higher altitudes with medium textured soils that benefit from constant Mediterranean ventilation. All viticulture is conducted using organic methods and the grapes are harvested by hand. Winemaking occurs in a square cellar known as a baglio, where Bambina utilizes small lot fermentation and aging processes to maintain the specific identity of each vineyard parcel.

Tenuta Augustali is recognized for its monovarietal expressions of Sicilian grapes such as Nero d'Avola, Catarratto, Grillo, and Syrah. The wine portfolio is organized into thematic collections including the Contrasto line, which is named after the poetic style of the thirteenth century writer Ciullo d'Alcamo. The Shams series takes its name from the Arabic word for sun, highlighting the influence of light and warmth on the grape ripening cycle. Another primary label is Vi Sei, representing the six members of the Bambina family and the vibrant character of the estate's production. The producer has established a reputation for balancing technical winemaking precision with a commitment to organic certification and the preservation of Sicilian biodiversity.
