Silvern is a South Australian wine label established in 2004 by Aaron and Julie Southern. Based in the Greenock subregion of the Barossa Valley, the Southerns originally operated as grape growers, supplying fruit to larger regional wineries. Following a chance meeting with Dan Standish and Jaysen Collins of Massena, the couple was encouraged to produce their own wines and constructed a winery on their property. Julie Southern's background as a member of the Kalleske family, a prominent name in Barossa viticulture, provides a deep connection to the region's agricultural history.

The production of Silvern focuses on highlighting specific South Australian terroirs, particularly the northern reaches of the Barossa Valley and the red clay over limestone soils of Coonawarra. The family owns and manages vineyards in the northern Barossa where the climate and soils favor the production of rich red wines. Winemaking is overseen by Aaron Southern, who follows a philosophy aimed at creating wines that are approachable and supple. The brand name itself is a reference to the smooth and silky textures the producers strive to achieve in their finished bottlings, often utilizing a combination of stainless steel and oak aging to maintain fruit freshness.

The producer is most recognized for its Silvern a Greenock Shiraz and its Silvern a Coonawarra Cabernet Sauvignon. The Shiraz typically displays classic regional characteristics such as dark plum, anise, and violet notes, often receiving positive critical reviews and high scores from Australian critics like James Halliday. While the brand is centered on the Barossa, its portfolio extends to other premium South Australian regions through established partnerships with other growers and producers. Today, the label is managed and exported by the Inland Trading Company, positioning it as a consistent representative of South Australian viticulture in international markets.
