Società Agricola Ribusieri, also known as Tenuta Ribusieri, was established in 1990 in the municipality of Cinigiano. The estate is located within the Montecucco viticultural area of the Maremma, a region in southern Tuscany that gained its official DOC status in 1998. The property is managed by the Ananìa family, with winemaking overseen by Luigi Ananìa, who also operates the La Torre estate in nearby Montalcino. The winery was founded to modernize the local winemaking traditions of the Orcia river valley, emphasizing environmental sustainability and innovative agronomic techniques.
The vineyards cover approximately 10 hectares on the southwest foothills of Mount Amiata, an ancient extinct volcano. These sites sit at elevations between 160 and 180 meters above sea level, characterized by arid soils composed of clay loam, sandstone, and volcanic minerals. This specific terroir is influenced by the microclimate created by the mountain and the proximity of the Tyrrhenian Sea, which provides significant diurnal temperature variations. Cultivation is focused on Sangiovese and Vermentino, utilizing low pruned spur cordon and Guyot training systems with plant densities of about 5,000 vines per hectare. The estate follows sustainable agricultural practices and has moved toward organic production.
The production portfolio includes labels such as Solaura, a Sangiovese Maremma Toscana DOC, and Chiaranotte, a Vermentino Montecucco DOC. Another core wine is Le Maciole, a Montecucco Rosso blend of Sangiovese, Petit Verdot, and Syrah named after the stony boulders found in the local soil. The estate also produces Sofialvento, a brut rose sparkling wine made from Sangiovese using the Charmat method. While the region is often compared to its neighbor Montalcino, Ribusieri has built a reputation for producing approachable, modern wines that reflect the mineral characteristics of the volcanic soil. The winery produces roughly 3,500 cases annually for international distribution.
