Giusti Wine

Ermenegildo Giusti, also known as Joe Giusti, founded Giusti Wine in 2004 after returning to his native Veneto from Canada, where he had established the Giusti Group of Companies in the construction industry. While his family lineage in the region traces back to 1600, the current commercial operation began with the purchase of a two-hectare plot in Nervesa della Battaglia. This project initially grew from the Dal Col vineyard, a small property owned by his wife's family since 1945. Over the following two decades, the estate expanded into a significant operation comprising ten separate estates across the region, encompassing more than 120 hectares of land.

The primary vineyards are located in the Montello and Asolo hills, where the terroir consists of red clay and mineral-rich sediment deposited by the Piave River. Key properties include the Aria Valentina, Rosalia, and Abazia estates, which are managed according to sustainable viticultural practices. Oenologist Graziana Grassini acts as a technical consultant for the winemaking team alongside head winemaker Marco Pozzobon. The winery itself is an underground structure designed to minimize visual impact, featuring a sustainable roof planted with vines and five levels that utilize gravity-flow systems. Fermentation takes place in temperature-controlled stainless steel, while the premium red wines undergo aging in French oak barriques within the cellar.

The producer is recognized for its Asolo Prosecco Superiore DOCG, a sparkling wine that highlights the mineral profile of Glera grapes grown on high-altitude slopes. Its flagship red wine, Umberto I, is a Rosso Montello blend of Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot that is aged in oak for several years. Giusti has also played a role in the preservation of Recantina, a rare indigenous red grape variety that was nearly lost to the region. In addition to its Treviso holdings, the estate produces Amarone della Valpolicella and Valpolicella Ripasso from vineyards in western Veneto. The winery has received several international awards and is notable for its investment in local heritage, including the restoration of the 11th-century Abbey of Saint Eustace.
