Producer
Brothers Héctor and Pablo Durigutti established Durigutti Family Winemakers in 2002. Both founders are first generation winemakers from Mendoza who previously spent years working for major Argentine and international wineries. Héctor Durigutti was a founding partner and the first winemaker at Altos Las Hormigas, while Pablo Durigutti gained experience at several estates including Catena Zapata. The winery remains a family owned and operated business. In 2007, the brothers purchased their primary estate in Las Compuertas and named it Finca Victoria in honor of their mother. This acquisition marked a transition from a small export oriented project to a producer with significant land holdings and its own dedicated winery facility.
The estate is centered at Finca Victoria in Las Compuertas, a historic district within Luján de Cuyo. The property encompasses 40 hectares, with a focus on preserving heritage vines that date back to the early twentieth century. These vineyards sit at an elevation of approximately 1,070 meters above sea level and feature alluvial soils composed of silt, clay, and stones. The winemaking philosophy emphasizes low intervention and sustainable agroecology. All estate vineyards are certified organic, and the wines carry vegan certification. In the cellar, the brothers avoid clarification and filtration. They utilize a variety of vessels for fermentation and aging, including epoxy-free concrete pools, cement eggs, terracotta amphorae, and large oak foudres to minimize wood influence and preserve fruit purity.
The winery is best known for its focus on Malbec, particularly the Proyecto Las Compuertas line, which aims to revitalize the historic Las Compuertas region through site specific bottlings. Their portfolio also includes Cabernet Franc, Bonarda, and traditional varieties like Criolla and Cereza. Beyond the flagship labels, the brothers produce the Durigutti Familia, Carmela Durigutti, and Aguijón de Abeja ranges. The producer has achieved significant international recognition, recently ranking as the eleventh best vineyard in the world according to the 2025 World's Best Vineyards list. This reputation is built on their role as leaders in the Las Compuertas Geographical Indication and their commitment to natural winemaking practices that highlight the regional character of Mendoza.
