Domaine Henri Boillot is a family estate based in Meursault, with viticultural roots dating back to 1885. The property was previously known as Domaine Jean Boillot, named after Henri Boillot's father. In 2005, Henri Boillot consolidated the family holdings by purchasing the shares of his brother and sister, subsequently renaming the estate to reflect its current identity. Today, the domaine is operated by a father and son team. Henri Boillot manages the production of white wines, while his son Guillaume Boillot, who joined the estate in 2008, oversees the red wines and vineyard management.
The estate manages approximately 15 hectares of vineyards, with primary holdings in Puligny-Montrachet, Meursault, and Volnay. A central feature of the domaine is the 3.92-hectare monopole, Clos de la Mouchère, a premier cru site within Puligny-Montrachet. The family follows sustainable viticultural practices and emphasizes low yields to ensure fruit concentration. In the cellar, white wines are vinified using 350-liter oak barrels rather than the traditional 228-liter size, a technique intended to preserve mineral freshness and limit wood influence. Red wines are produced with an emphasis on elegance and aromatic lift, often incorporating whole-cluster fermentation for certain cuvées.
The producer is recognized for the precision and energy of its white wines, which are often cited as reference examples for the Puligny-Montrachet style. Beyond the Clos de la Mouchère, the domaine holds parcels in several Grand Cru vineyards, including Bâtard-Montrachet and Chevalier-Montrachet. The range also extends to red wines from Volnay, such as Les Caillerets and Les Chevrets. While the estate maintains its own vineyard holdings, it also operates a négociant business under the name Maison Henri Boillot, allowing the family to produce wines from a wider array of notable appellations across the Côte de Beaune and Côte de Nuits.
