Producer
Dominique Cornin represents the fourth generation of his family to farm vineyard land in the village of Chaintré. While his ancestors primarily sold their grapes to local cooperatives, Dominique began working the family vines alongside his father in 1983 and eventually established his eponymous domaine in 1993. His son, Romain, joined the business in 2011 after completing viticultural studies in the Mâconnais and gaining international experience at wineries in New Zealand and the United States. Today, Romain leads the estate operations and has completed the family transition from traditional grape growers to independent winemakers.
The estate manages approximately 12 hectares of vineyards located across the villages of Chaintré, Fuissé, and Chanes. These holdings include a high proportion of old vines, with some parcels like Les Serreuxdières containing plants over a century old, and the Clos Reyssié vineyard featuring vines planted in 1938. The vineyards are situated on clay and limestone soils typical of the southern Mâconnais region. The domaine earned organic certification in 2003 and utilizes biodynamic farming methods to encourage soil health and vine longevity. In the cellar, the winemaking follows a low intervention philosophy using gravity flow and native yeast fermentations. Aging occurs in stainless steel for entry level wines or used oak barrels and larger demi-muids for single vineyard selections to avoid excessive wood character.
Signature wines from the producer include the Mâcon-Chaintré Les Serreuxdières and various single vineyard expressions from Pouilly-Fuissé, such as Les Plessys and Clos Reyssié. The Les Chevrières parcel, which was elevated to Premier Cru status in 2020, is another notable holding that the family has historically produced for the Hospices de Beaune. The domaine has established a reputation for producing white wines characterized by purity and freshness rather than heavy extraction. Their bottles are recognized for displaying the specific microclimates of Chaintré and Fuissé, and they are frequently cited by regional critics for their technical precision. The estate also produces small quantities of Saint-Véran and Beaujolais Blanc from their southern holdings.
