Domaine Boursot Père & Fils

Domaine Boursot Père et Fils is located in Chambolle-Musigny and traces its viticultural lineage back to 1550 with Guillaume Boursot. The family has operated as winegrowers in this village for fifteen generations, making it one of the oldest names in the region. Jean-François Boursot began bottling estate wines under the family name in 1974, a departure from the previous practice of selling production to local traders. His son Rémy took over the domain in 1984 and expanded the commercial reach of the brand. Today, the property is managed by the 15th generation, brothers Romaric and Romuald Boursot, who assumed leadership roles in 2011 and 2012. Romaric focuses on the commercial side of the business, while Romuald serves as the cellar master and vineyard manager.

The estate manages four hectares of vineyards primarily situated in Chambolle-Musigny, with additional parcels in Gevrey-Chambertin and Vosne-Romanée. Viticulture has followed organic principles since 2003, emphasizing soil health and manual labor to maintain vine balance across their holdings. In the cellar, the brothers employ traditional vinification methods including hand-sorting and temperature-regulated fermentation. A defining feature of their current winemaking is the experimental use of 300-liter clay amphorae for certain cuvées, which they use alongside traditional French oak barrels to refine texture and preserve fruit characteristics. In 2017, they moved their primary winemaking operations to a new facility in Gilly-lès-Cîteaux to improve technical precision, while continuing to age wines in the original family cellars.

The domaine is most recognized for its Premier Cru offerings from Chambolle-Musigny, specifically the parcels of Les Fuées, Les Lavrottes, and Les Chatelots. They also produce village-level wines from Chambolle-Musigny and Gevrey-Chambertin, alongside a small selection of wines produced from purchased grapes. Under the direction of Romaric and Romuald, the estate has gained attention for a style that balances density with aromatic clarity. The family also maintains a historic townhouse in the center of Chambolle-Musigny village that houses a large public tasting room. This presence has helped the domaine transition from a historical grower to an established name within the local hierarchy, known for producing wines that are approachable in their youth but possess the structure required for aging.
