The estate has been in the Voge family for several generations, with land holdings in Cornas dating back to 1905. The modern era began in 1958 when Alain Voge joined his father and transitioned the farm from polyculture to a specialized focus on wine. Voge became a central figure in the Northern Rhône, specifically credited with helping to preserve the Saint-Péray and Cornas appellations during a period of decline. In 2004, Voge entered a partnership with Albéric Mazoyer, formerly of Chapoutier, who managed the estate until his retirement in 2018. Following Voge's death in 2020, the domaine has been managed by Lionel Fraisse, who joined the estate in 2012.
The domaine encompasses 13 hectares of vineyards situated on the steep, granite slopes of the Rhône River's right bank. Approximately eight hectares are located in Cornas on decomposed granite soils locally known as gore, while the remaining holdings are primarily in Saint-Péray and Saint-Joseph. The estate transitioned to organic viticulture in 2006 and received biodynamic certification through Biodyvin and Demeter for all its wines by 2016. Winemaking involves traditional practices such as fermentation in small stainless steel vats and aging in oak barrels. The use of new oak is generally limited to around 15 or 20 percent for the top red wines to maintain the character of the Syrah and the specific granite terroir.
The winery is widely recognized for its Cornas and Saint-Péray bottlings. Its classic Cornas is Les Vieilles Vignes, produced from Syrah vines aged between 30 and 80 years, while the prestige cuvée Les Vieilles Fontaines is made only in successful vintages from century-old vines. In Saint-Péray, the domaine produces Marsanne-based still wines including Fleur de Crussol and Ongrie, as well as a traditional method sparkling wine called Les Bulles d'Alain. This sparkling wine continues the historical local heritage of producing effervescent wines that predates the modern focus on still whites. The producer is frequently cited as a primary representative of the Cornas appellation.
