Producer
The Jaume family established their winegrowing heritage in the northern sector of Châteauneuf du Pape in 1826. Founded by Mathieu Jaume, the lineage continued through several generations until Alain and Odile Jaume created the primary estate, Domaine Grand Veneur, in 1979. Based in the commune of Orange, the producer remains family owned and operated. Today, the children of Alain Jaume, Christophe, Sébastien, and Hélène, manage the daily operations. This represents the fifth and sixth generations of the family to cultivate vines in the southern Rhône Valley.
The estate manages approximately 90 hectares of vineyards across several appellations, including Châteauneuf du Pape, Lirac, and Vacqueyras. Viticulture follows certified organic practices, focusing on soil health through light plowing and vegetable compost. The vineyards feature the characteristic galets stones of the region over clay and sand subsoils. Winemaking is led by Sébastien Jaume, who utilizes concrete vats for Grenache and French oak barrels for Syrah and Mourvèdre. The family also produces varietal labels under the Alain Jaume name, including wines classified as Vin de France.
